I’ve been a teacher most of my life

Except for a few years downtown

But writing’s my faithful job

I spend six months in Texas

And six months in New Hampshire

But my favorite companions don’t change

I like watching the dawn come up

Or reading late

Love big hairy dogs

And all cats

I live with 5,000 books and one man

I was Sunday’s child, and every day I’m grateful.
